SVC swimmers beat Pitt-Bradford and Buffalo State

After losing to Grove City College on November 3, the Bearcat swimmers picked up a pair of victories. The SVC men’s and women’s swimming teams triumphed in a tri-meet hosted by Pitt-Bradford on Saturday, November 10. The SVC men beat Buffalo State 85-37 and Pitt-Bradford 72-50, while the ladies trounced Buffalo State 76-45 and Pitt-Bradford 89-28. Sophomore Zach Ligus won three events, winning the 200 free and the 500 free individually and the 200 free relay as part of a team that also included junior Matt Linebaugh, senior Casey Whittaker and freshman Allan Sant. “The team pulled together an awesome pair of victories,” said Ligus. “I was glad to be able to contribute several points to our score.” Junior Carolyn Claybrooks also won top honors thrice, owning the 200 free and 100 butterfly individually and winning the 200 free relay with teammates Allison Friery, Katie Custer and Mary Kate Kenna. Sophomore Molly McCloskey set a pool record in the 1000 free, with a time of 11:25.35. The next meet for the Bearcats will be at home on Friday, November 16, at 4:30 p.m. The Bearcats will face the University of Mount Union.
