Homecoming at Saint Vincent College (SVC) brings together students, staff, alumni, and friends for a weekend of events that highlight school spirit and community connections. Whether on the field, sidelines, or stage, each student brings a unique piece of energy that makes the day unforgettable.
For sophomore wide receiver and defensive back Tristan Doy, stepping onto the field for the Homecoming game was electric. “The energy was different—the crowd was loud; everyone was hyped, and you could really feel the support from the school. It made me proud to be out there representing my team,” Doy said. “I got a little toe-drag swag action. After that, I knew it was going to be a good day.”
Junior wide receiver Chris Downs echoed that excitement.
“It was really cool seeing the number of fans and alumni that came to support us,” Downs said. “Even to the end, the team didn’t give up. We fought to score our second touchdown on the goal line. It shows our will to keep fighting. It’s a time where everyone who’s ever been part of Saint Vincent can come together and celebrate being a Bearcat.”
On the sidelines, the cheer and dance teams brought the spirit to life. Sophomore cheerleader Lauren Brown described the atmosphere as “loving but stressful,” since it was her first time performing at Homecoming.
“Our school has such a home feeling that even under the nerves, I knew I was okay,” Brown said. Her team prepared through long practices, perfecting stunts, and cheers. “My favorite part was getting ready for the pep rally,” Brown said. “I hope the crowd felt excitement and joy—and that first-year students saw that getting involved can be such a beautiful experience.”

Freshman dancer Jessica Lehrke also spoke about the energy from the stands.
“There was so much excitement! Family, friends, and alumni were all so happy to be there,” Lehrke said. Lehrke added that her team’s halftime performance was her favorite part.“We practiced endlessly to make our routines perfect. I hope the crowd walked away recognizing that the dance and cheer teams aren’t to be overlooked—we’ve grown so much, and I can’t wait to see where we go next,” Lehrke said.
“The atmosphere was electric! Being among the alumni and even dancing with our coach, who’s an alum herself, was so special. As a freshman, I can’t wait for next year,” freshman dancer Reigna Taylor said.Despite the team’s loss, falling to Case Western Reserve 42-14, Homecoming proved to be as exciting as ever, for students, players, alumni, and everyone there.
