With the acquisitions of quarterback Aaron Rodgers and wide receiver DK Metcalf this offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers have drawn eyes all across the country, curious if the team will find success this season. No exception to this is at their annual training camp here at Saint Vincent College (SVC) as a part of their decades-long partnership with the team. But while training camp always gets people talking, SVC was thrust into the national spotlight on a whole new level this summer.

On Wednesday, July 30th, The Pat McAfee Show, a daily sports talk show on ESPN hosted by former NFL player Pat McAfee, made its way to Latrobe to host a live broadcast. Premiering in 2019 on YouTube, the show has been one of the most popular sports talk shows since its inception. The show made a deal with ESPN in 2023 to be broadcast live daily on the channel.
During the three-hour broadcast, McAfee interviewed stars of the Steelers organization, including head coach Mike Tomlin, general manager Omar Khan, and players Aaron Rodgers, T. J. Watt, and Cameron Heyward, all framed with a scenic background of SVC’s campus.
“Since 1966, this beautiful, Catholic college has been the home of Pittsburgh Steelers Training Camp,” McAfee said as he introduced his show. “Every Pittsburgh Steeler that has just crossed your mind has worked their butt off on the fields behind us today.”
The show was nationally broadcast on ESPN, and the dual livestream on YouTube had 459k viewers. Steelers training camp this year had a record-setting attendance, drawing huge crowds from not just Western Pennsylvania, but from all around the country, and even the world. “There’s no place like Latrobe, man,” All-Pro linebacker T. J. Watt expressed on the show.

This year marked the 58th year of SVC’s partnership with the Steelers, with no signs of slowing down. Here We Go Steelers!
